Blow Molding systems utilize PET preforms that are blown into the shape and size of various bottles and wide mouth jars. Preforms look like clear or colored laboratory test tubes with threads at the top of the tube. The "preformed" threads allow the cap to screw on to the blown bottle. Threads ensure a secure and tight seal after the bottle is filled and the cap is tightened.

The preforms are very compact, unlike bottles that are normally shipped. A 40' trailer can hold up to approximately 650,000 / 24 gram preforms, while a 40' trailer can hold only about 40,000 blown bottles.

We supply all colors, clear and opaque preforms.

Preform costs vary by supplier and are sold by actual gram weight. The larger the preform / bottle, the more resin material is required. Typically, a one-liter bottle preform is marketed for around $0.07 - $0.09 each. Depending upon local labor costs and benefits (based on $6.00 per hour labor rate), labor to produce one bottle will cost around $0.01 per bottle. A wide variety of preforms can be provided to create the exact bottle style and color that your business demands. Preforms range in size from as light as 18 grams to as heavy as 130 grams.
